Since 30th December 2019, China has been suffering from a coronavirus: a plague that is quickly spreading worldwide. Breathing difficulties, fever, and cough have been acute and the sources of transmission have yet to be medically proven. These uncertainties are causing a lot of worries and questions around the world, especially among Asian countries.

At the moment, serious respiratory illness with fever, cough, and shortness of breath are reported. According to medical professionals, it takes approximately 3 to 5 days to contract the disease but notes that the current understanding is only based on a limited number of cases. As more information becomes available, this could change.
Medical professionals are continuing to discover new methods of transmission of the highly contagious coronavirus. Currently, the recorded methods of contamination include:

Airports worldwide have started screening passengers from China: thermal screening is performed using mass-screening systems that measure skin temperature. Medical teams have started to have their own offices in airports in order to treat immediately suspected individuals.

Chinese New Year is known for family reunions and for being the period with the biggest annual human migration in the world.
If you plan to travel to Asia during the Lunar New Year to visit friends or relatives or to participate in festivities, there are some easy precautions that you can take.
1. Wash your hands before and after eating. The Washington Department of Health has advised to wash them for about 20 seconds
2. Wear a mask in high risk areas.
3. Try to keep your belongings as clean and disinfected as possible (car keys, phones, computers…)
