On Wednesday the 25th of March, Singapore experienced the largest increase of coronavirus cases in a day: 73 new confirmed cases, which makes 631 total cases in Singapore this Thursday 26th of March. Around 80 percent of new COVID-19 cases were imported, most of them being Singapore residents and Long Term Pass holders coming back home.
This article will inform you where you can get tested, the cost of testing, and how your insurance coverage can help you during this pandemic.
I have a cough and a runny nose, where can I seek for medical attention?
You can seek for medical attention at all the 940 Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs) as well as polyclinics in Singapore.
You can find the one nearby on the map of Flu Go Where.
PHPCs provides subsidized treatment, investigations, and medication for the COVID-19 outbreak. Subsidies will be provided for patients diagnosed with respiratory infections.
Where can I get myself tested?
But you won’t be tested in those clinics! Your GP will just assess your conditions and if he finds Covid-19 suggestive symptoms he will refer you to one National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) or the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department of the nearest public hospital for further review.
Testing for the disease is free.
How much is it going to cost me if I have Covid-19?
As a long-term pass-holder
The Government will continue to pay for the Covid-19 testing fees and hospital bill in full for Singapore residents as much as for long-term pass holders who are admitted to public hospitals for Covid-19.
As a short-term pass-holder
Visitors holding short-term visit passes who seek treatment for Covid-19 in Singapore will have to pay for their treatment for Covid-19 from the 7 of March.
The Ministry had previously said that the Government will pay the hospital bills incurred by all Covid-19 patients in public hospitals in full. But this coverage does not apply to outpatient treatment at general practitioner clinics or polyclinics or treatment at private medical centers.
Moreover, from 23rd March 2020, all short-term visitors (from anywhere in the world) will not be allowed to enter or transit through Singapore.
